Creating a New Pillow - (1)Measure pillow form. Cut 2 pieces of fabric to exact size of pillow form. (For best results, do not add seam allowance. Cut size includes 1/2" seam allowance.) Cut all 4 corners perfectly square. Use template to mark and trim corners. (see below) (2)Stitch any embellishment to edges of front piece of fabric, easing embellishment to fit as you sew. Pin back to front, right sides together. Stitch with 1/2" seam allowance, leaving 8"-10" unstitched at center of one side. (3)Turn right side out. Press. Insert pillow form, pushing form evenly into corners. Slipstitch closed. Recovering a Pillow -(1) Use old cover as pattern, adding 1/2" seam allowance all around. Use template to mark and trim corners. (2)Follow steps 2-3 of New Pillow. Instructions for Template - (1) Position cut fabric pieces on top of each other, right sides together. (2) In one corner, line up straight edges of template with cut edges of fabric (A). (3) Trace along curved corner edge (B). Mark corner turn point, if desired. Reposition template at remaining corners and mark. (4) Cut fabric corners on marked lines through both layers (C). The centers of each side should still be a straight edge. This template can be used for Square or Rectangular Pillows.
