Break yarn and thread through remaining four
stitches, pulling them together.
Make a small pom-pom out of the white yarn and attach
securely to top of hat.
Darn in yarn ends and enjoy!
*Optional "ear-holes:"
Take a look at your pet and see where you need the ear-holes.
Being a rabbit, Santa Bunny's ears are very close together on the front
of her head so her hat's ear-holes were started on stitches 3 and
27. For another animal you may need to space the holes more
evenly: beginning one at stitch 15 and one at stitch 31, perhaps. Some
experimentation may be necessary to get just the right fit.
Knit to the designated stitch for beginning the first
ear-hole (stitch 3 for Santa Bunny) and cast off the next 3 stitches.
Knit to the designated stitch for beginning the
second ear-hole (stitch 27 for Santa Bunny) and cast off the next 3
stitches. Knit to the end of round.
Knit the next round. When you come to the
places where you cast off for the ear-holes make 3 backwards loops on
the needle to replace the 3 cast off stitches.
